A Message from Principal
Thank you for visiting the Kofu Minami School website.
Kofu Minami High School was established in 1963 (Showa 38) and has accumulated 57 years of history through the Showa, Heisei and Reiwa eras. Our school motto is “Frontier Spirit”, and by embodying this “Frontier Spirit” of tackling the new and challenging, we pursue “Truth”, “Good” and “Beauty.” Our students are inquisitive and through inheriting the school’s traditional values of independence, they elevate their daily studies, club activities and school events by inputting their own flavours and colours.
Our school has been designated as a Super Science High School (SSH) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) since 2004, making this our 17th year now. In this time, we have continually evolved an original curriculum to offer students ample opportunity to have scientific experiments and laboratory work for their own original research. We have achieved numerous projects including various collaborations with people, companies, institutions and facilities in the region.
Presently, we are in the middle of our fourth iteration as an SSH. We offer very engaging classes such as “Frontier Quests I, II and III” (scientific research courses which all students from 1st grade to 3rd grade enrol in), “Science English” and “Science World” (a cross-curricular scheme). We are consistently making improvements to the education that we provide as well as strive to develop new research collaborations with universities nationally and high schools overseas.
As of now, our alumni has exceeded 20,000 and many of them perform leading roles in a wide range of fields inside and outside of the country. Furthermore, we aim to nurture resourceful individuals who take initiative in various fields of Japan and the global community in the future, and can contribute to the advancement of society.
We aspire for Kofu Minami High School to be an inspiring school filled with intellectual stimuli that can enlighten students to embody the “Frontier Spirit” and for it to ever be a Frontier school of the times.
